Last Tuesday, I got to see BAMBOO live at UP Bahay ng Alumni!!! Luckily there were very few people around (and thank God so few jologs rockers who like bumping into people like it was the Woodstock), and Bebe and I were able to stand soooooooo near the stage! Phew, all those hours of waiting paid off!
Too bad I didn't get to take a pic of him close up, stupid phone with no zoom... Aaaah I was so near yet so far... Near enough to see his face clearly, so far to touch his hand...
Oh well. And that can of Pepsi, ugh, so expensive! P30 for a can of pepsi, which was transferred in a disposable plastic cup, and it really looked like we didn't get all of its contents! THIRTY PESOS DAMNIT!
And there's this totally weird guy who freaked me out! God knows how relieved I felt when Bebe and I finally got to ride off in a cab... I was SO giving him the exact words "Napaparanoid ako" and "Sorry, ayoko talaga (refering to giving cell number)" and that guy was still insisting! Why couldn't he take a hint! Lucky Bebe, at least she's not in direct hit with his questions... Imagine what would've happened if I went so stupid and gave my number... Gah! I'm so pissed off at that guy! Dude, lasing ka ba't di nag-fu-function brain mo?! You said it yourself, you think we're scared of you, you don't want to scare us! Then DON'T insist on things like asking what our cell numbers are! And dude, if you really don't want a person to feel so uncomfortable around you, DON'T insist on a conversation. Or if you want to talk, DON'T get personal. DON'T ask the person's address, number, or anything relating to that person that would make it easy for you to contact him/her! Because people easily suspect on people who could be potential stalkers or buggers or whatever fucking animal you are!
Okay, well now that THAT'S off, I'm writing about the concert again.
Brownman Revival's a really, really cool band (sad to think about their payment, though, there are NINE of them in the group), their music's great, I was swaying the whole time, I must've looked like an idiot, but I didn't care, blame it on them, hehehe. The lead singer, Dino Concepcion, looked like Johnny Depp on stage (and wherever) mainly because of his hair, and those large shades and the clothing he wore that night. I searched for pictures and (hehe) he really kinda looks like Johnny Depp! Weird, I don't like Johnny much physically (but I so love Captain Jack Sparrow), but two people who resemble him in a way makes me giddy all over! One's Ando Masanobu, and the other's Dino Concepcion (recent pics; of Brownman Revival)!

Dino Concepcion getting very drunk Captain Jack Sparrow-like in there... weeee...

Johnny Depp (kyaaaah!) with his 'star' for the Walk of Fame...

Ando Masanobu... *sigh*
See how they look quite alike?

Waaaa my blog kinda looks messy (I dunno, I just have that feeling). Since last week (well, actually about a month ago) I've been trying to modify my blog and still trying to tidy it up via the sidebar, so I could easily access my past posts instead of looking for it from the calendar (which would be really haggardous). Anyways, please feel (VERY) free to access my posts via the sidebar.
O kuya, di ka na mahihirapan, hehehe...

Last Friday I did my shoot for our Film112 class' first exercise. I worked with Timmy and Richmond, and we three helped with each other's shoots until early Saturday morning. Our location was (very conveniently) Timmy's new house, and they haven't fully moved in, just some of their things here and there. Quite unfortunately, two trucks of their furniture and things moved in just halfway my shoot, but it was okay, since (obviously) I wasn't one to complain, and since we could easily move things away when needed.

These are Rich and Timmy, coursemates/batchmates/blockmates/orgmates (Rich only) and occasional classmates. Hehe, Rich took this from the Timmy's camera's LCD, which was in night mode. We had a short (sort of) video with us just talking nonsense and stuff, which was shot in night mode, thus we called it our 'scandal' video. Something funny happened in it (not sexual, you naughty minds), but I'm keeping quiet about it or someone might kill us three. Well, just them two, I was just laughing. Okay, make it three.

Wahahahaha, my debut as a ridiculous actress! This is during Rich's shoot, and he made me his main character, since it was based on the life of an artist, and he initially based the location in my room (omg it's really somehow my life...). Maybe he hit on drugs while doing his concept, tee-hee-hee... What's funny was that on the day itself I was dressed in just plain t-shirt (that had, ugh, black-grey stains, darn it I liked that shirt) and green shorts that (I didn't know) was so dirty! Haha! In-character even before shoot, huh?

Me and Rich posing for the camera (Which was Timmy's, again, heheheh).

Wahahahaha! It's my turn now! I was setting up the camera this time, 'feeling' it for the very first time, since, well, that was my first time! Well, I got the chance to hold a mini-dv a few days before, but I didn't set it up myself, I just pushed the record button on and off. This time I really had to adjust things, including the tripod! Yikes!

Well, I was still fixing the camera's settings. Rich was the really the first one to appear, but anyways, Timmy's my actress too. It's kinda funny, actually. We three used the same location, same couch, same camera, same tripod, same light, and our actors were each other! Rich had me, I had both Rich and Timmy, while Timmy had Rich and me! Actually Rich intended to have Timmy in his shoot, too, but unfortunately the time limit (and Sir Lyle) didn't permit him to do so.
That night (waaaay in the night, a bit past midnight) we were still thinking of a concept for Timmy which should use whatever we had at that time. I was really, really, really sleepy that time, so my brain wasn't really working properly (sorry Timmy). Soon we gave in to sleep. After a few hours I felt Timmy wake up, and she said there were a lot of little insects. I looked around us and said "Wala naman ah..." and then FWOOP! Gah! An insect on my neck! SPLAT! A dead insect on my neck! About 2/3 awake, I managed to see that it was a gamugamo, before covering myself with the blanket and going back to sleep.
A few hours later, I woke up and saw that Rich's pillow was on the floor. I wanted to give it to him but since I was still sleepy I didn't move. Then suddenly Rich talked! Well, more like murmur or grunt or something. Wow, I didn't know that he (somewhat) talks in his sleep... Even Timmy heard it!
Then later on, Timmy greeted us good morning and said "Shoot na tayo..." Rich and I started waking up fully and prepared ourselves for her shoot. Luckily we ended up early, and I managed to arrive home early. Unfortunately I fell asleep, so when I woke up I only had about 20 minutes to think and write my 3-page reaction paper to 2006 Gawad Plaridel awardee Tiya Dely. Oh well, I got to finish it on time, and I managed to arrive in school on time. Stupid Saturday class...
I just came from the 2006 Cinemalaya congress, and attended 2 forums there. The line-up at the first panel I got to watch (which was the second one that day) was composed of some interesting people, which included Marilou Diaz Abaya (whom we'd be doing a report on auteur on Film102) and Jessica Zafra, author of the Twisted books. Sadly, I got bored and my attention managed to keep up with Jessica Zafra.
Now the second panel (officially the third one), was a VERY interesting one, aside from the fact that it's star studded, because the topic was about actors in the indie film. The moderator was Boy Abunda, and the panelists were Gina Alajar, Jacklyn Jose, Irma Adlawan and Ronnie Lazaro.
Boy Abunda. WOW. I was really impressed by his moderating/hosting skills. Seeing him on tv like that impressed me, but he really pushed my impression more upwards because he was really, really good, and he actually contributes to the discussion, which added to its 'color' since his questions and views were interesting, just like the panelists themselves.
Gina Alajar was impressive, as well as Jacklyn Jose. Both provided a lot of humor in their stories, and because of them I found out that Noni Buencamino's not the one who complains however hard his situation or location or whatever discomfort he's feeling as the actor in a production. Irma Adlawan was funny too, but she sounded more serious near the end, but still, her words were something new to us, thus we learned something from her, especially the fact that a lot of theater actors work occasionally in indie films. Too bad Ronnie Lazaro didn't speak much...
The open forum after that was somehow interesting as well, because the panelists answered a lot, and Boy Abunda made sure that it wasn't just a one-way forum (which added to my very good impression of him). There was just this person who annoyed me. It was a woman who spoke on the microphone for too long, and then rose a question which was, I think, somewhat personal and hard to answer (what's the lowest price she could pay [jacklyn jose/actor]). I think Boy Abunda was somehow annoyed, too, or even pissed off, especially when the woman said "Ay hindi ako kukuha ng actors sa YO!" or something like that, which sounded very, very rude, even if she added "Kasi mahal." Boy Abunda retaliated with something like he won't be giving his actors to her, but answered with a laugh. He made it look like it was a joke, but we all know that he was pissed. I mean, who wouldn't, right? It was point-blank annoying like hell, she could've not said that, it wasn't necessary at all, and Boy Abunda wasn't even suggesting his actors for her to use in her documentary shoot! Another anoying thing about her was that she rose the price question, and then she kept on telling Jacklyn Jose "Text mo na lang mamaya!" or something like that. What's the point in asking? Was she trying to brag that she's got Jacklyn Jose's number? SO WHAT?! Ugh, that really annoying bitch...
Anyways, so that's how my experience at the Cinemalaya congress went. I also managed to see Raymund Lee (or Ricky Lee, can't remember who) and some faces I feel belong to someone important, but couldn't remember or didn't know who. Oh well, at least I've got a nametag thing, and a souveneir (which was somewhat a 'guidebook' to the forums and film finalists).
Oh, and the trophy looks cool. A salute to the designer, Gerardo Leonardo.

They've been worrying like hell for the past few days. I didn't.
NOW I DO.
You see, tomorrow's the day we will pass our first video exercise for Film112, and now I'm kinda nervous about it because I'm afraid everyone would hate my work, but I'm kind of excited too because this is my first ever video project and because I would be seeing how everyone else think and shoot and make a very very short video.
Goodluck to us all.
May the ground crack open and swallow us if we're all bound to be doomed.
Oh God save me...

OH. MY. GOD.
I just got to watch Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, and I was like
"YYYYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Well, my day started out a bit off, since I was kinda pissed off because we left home late (partly my fault, but it was because I was so damn tired and still sleepy since I haven't got enough sleep yet). I was really kinda pissed off, and I wanted to run like hell to the mall, if only I was alone and not accompanied by six other people.
Anyways, when we arrived at the mall, I headed straight to the tiket booth to buy, duh, tickets, just so we could come in without any worries. Unfortunately, we were really late for the schedule, so we have to wait for about 30 minutes just so I won't get so damn spoiled. After a few minutes we gave in and we went in - and fortunately, the movie was finished at the same time! I was going to buy popcorn for me when I heard the Pirates of the Caribbean theme, and I was like "YEEEESSSS!!! It's finished! Yaaay!" and we seven went inside the theater and got ourselves decent seats (my self-proclaimed tradition still unbroken, the one sitting at the center of the theater at the top box for maximum enjoyment). After two commercials, I stood up to buy popcorn outside (which was outrageously expensive, I thought they used gold as cheese) and got in time for the trailers. I think the upcoming movie, My Super Ex-Girlfriend, which stars Uma Thurman, will be a lot of fun (and laughs). I think I'm gonna watch that in the theater, too. If I still have money, that is.
Anyways, after a few trailers, voila! A depressed Kiera Knightley! I think that was kinda overly dramatic, but it helped somehow to the mood of the movie, since it's darker than the first one (especially since Captain Jack's life is actually really threatened and Jack's really "spooked").
One of the things I liked about the movie was that it's obviously a continuation of the first one, meaning there are references to the first movie, like Elizabeth stressing "Captain Jack Sparrow" just like how the guy himself kept on stressing the captaincy title at the first movie, and I liked the lingering obssession for rum ("Why is the rum always gone?"). Basically, the characters were kept 'alive' and the same. Hooray for Captain Jack Sparrow!
Another thing I liked was the super attention for details and sets and stuff (oh how I despise the gory stuff on the devilish damned mermen, ech). Man that surely would be an ass for the storyboard artist/s and production design people. Especially for the art dep. A deep bow to you people.
Oh how I love the way Captain Jack Sparrow runs... He's so cool...
Too bad he probably got swallowed by Kracken. That was an overly dramatic scene for me, I dunno. But still I liked it. I hope that monster gets grilled, how dare it spit on Jack, that humongous ugly beast... grawwwwrrrrr... nat savvy at all!!!
Oh how I really don't like Elizabeth, how I really don't like her at all... At least Will Turner's quite redeemed himself to me. I don't think of him as an ass anymore. "I won't leave without him." Ugh, so gay.
Commander Norrington (or used to be) looks hawt! Too bad he's such an ass, and honor's not so important to him anymore.
Oooohh how I hate the new bastard! I forgot his name, hell I hate him anyway, he's such a large ugly ass with a lot of stinky barnacles and leeches. To hell with that guy.
Davey Jones - nice octupus head, dude. I wonder if he inks...
Bootstrap Bill - I like the starfish on his face, and the rest should go to hell with the new Navy guy.
Elizabeth's father really look thin now. Haha really stressed, huh.
Prison dog - yes, go with the bone you mongrel.
Captain Barbossa. Oh Captain Barbossa! Yaaaay! He's back, oh yes he's back! I really like his character (though not as much as Captain Jack Sparrow). I really thought the man walking down the cool black woman's hut was Jack, but NO, it was Barbossa! With his monkey Jack and favorite green apple! Yaaaay he's back! I'd like to see him and Davey Jones fight! That would probably cool! Hell yeah!
Spoilers, huh?
Want another one?
The "Jar of Death"...
is so fucking useless.
*dances away*
LOL.
In our Film112 class I got to know Michel Gondry. No, not personally (how I wish, though) but through a released dvd set of three directors, one of which was Michel Gondry's. Ever since our instructor showed us a sample of his music video (something of Bjork's), I knew right then and there that he's something to watch. When our instructor played Star Guitar, I was like,
"................................... ooooohhhh.................................."
REALLY. I was so amazed by his pure genius, with the way the video was so smooth, like the staff of a music sheet, with the components (trains, houses, posts, etc) as the notes 'playing' in coordination with everything else! It's so great (not to mention fun) that I really, really, really wanted to take a train ride right then and there!
Here's the video, thank God Youtube exists.
